    Hi all
The problem I have is that the freezer defrosts and gets warm overnight and the fridge temperature gets warmer overnight aswell. However when I rotate the temperature control for the fridge to the off setting the unit switches off and light goes out. I then turn the control back onto to a setting on the scale and both fridge and freezeer begin to cool. After a couple of hours they then operate as they should and remain like this for the remainder of the day only to defrost and get warm again overnight.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Cheers

Hi there Dragon – (funny, dragons are my fave! How sppoky). We have an ARC7612 too. I am sorry, but I am not going to offer you help – only join in your forum in the hope that someone else can help us both!

Our 7612 is actually the third one we have had! From what I can piece together, they were knocked out cheap – ours came from Currys – and I think it’s because they are rogues.

Ours ices up appallingly. From what again I have pieced together, the automatic defrost comes on too strong and all the frozen food gets warm! (This is better by far than the earlier one we had which got so hot that it melted cheddar cheese!!). The auto defrost is likely to be YOUR problem too. Ours then freezes everything again, but of course everything gets covered in piles and piles of ice. I have pics if anyone technical is reading this.

Dragon – I am sure that yours is exhibiting the same problems. There is a fault with the automatic defrost….

As I said, this is the third one we have had!! They are clearly duff.

What we learned from a cup of tea and a chat with “Mister Whirlpool” (who we got to know quite well) was that there IS a known modification to this model… (“Aha – they know it has a problem”). This involves some work at the top of the freezer section and they removed the top tray – the one you might freeze soft fruit on. This has actually made no difference!!

I am new to this forum – found it whilst troubleshooting a problem I have with my Smeg range – so don’t know – are their other ARC7612 sufferers out there? Please let me know if there are ‘cos I ain’t happy and there is strength in numbers!

BTW – I am pretty sure that we are all using FAR too much electricity as well!!

    Sue
