ParticipantDoes anyone have a succesful idea for Whirpool washer dryer AWG320 types that have the program knob go about 30 degrees out of sync, ie not point at the selected option?
Cheers

Hi Kentish
the knob is a push in and turn clockwise fit into the dispenser cam which is
held on the D shaped timer shaft by means of a nut. To remove knob rotate it about 45 degrees anti clockwise and pull it out, to refit to its correct position remove lid and hold dispenser cam to prevent it from rotating while you insert the knob into cam, lining the lugs up and rotate it
clockwise to its stop position, I’d check for correct alignment by setting knob to a drying position and hopefully machine will tumble dry. A little
dab of silicone on side walls of knob will help avoid same problem occuring again once it sets. HthAlbert

Thanks m8, but the problem is that the indicated program point is out, but the whole knob assy is correctly positioned within itself. It looks very much as if the timer shaft spline has somehow rotated out of sync, but to a limited and still fixed position.
What puzzles me is that this isnt the first case of this I have seen on this model, and all exactly the same fault symptoms and appearance.
Cheers

I have checked that the inner ring is correctly mounted on the timer shaft, and there is no distortion of the plastic follows the timer . The main user contact knob is also seated in the inner ring correctly as well, which is why I moot the query on the timer shaft going out of sync.
But dont think I didnt appreciate your help.January 9, 2004 at 5:13 pm #108438Kentish

Just a thought but have you, or a.n.other taken the timer out prior to all this? often there are loads of holes in the console and tapped holes in the timer itself. Could it be in the wrong place? If not its defo a knob problem as Martin says above.

I’ve got one of the Servis based integrated washer dryers on the go just now. Only installed and tested it 3 weeks ago and the timer was spot on.
Called out to it twice now and the timer is approx 120 degrees out of sync. The knob and inner are definitely in the right place and the timer hasn’t been removed at all. (Paperworks gone now and I can’t remember the model).
Sometimes I wish I’d stuck with fixing Merloni stuff. Tub changes are easy, no thought required. 😕February 22, 2004 at 11:05 pm #108441Dave_Conway

By repairing Servis you are ! 😥 Just the other brother and a different factory.
Please don’t take this the wrong way as I am not questioning you’re judgement, but, it is almost certainly (99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}) the knob has been turned anti-clockwise by the customer, and I know it looks and feels like it is in the right position, but it won’t be. You need to stop the timer itself from rotating and turn the knob a bit more, it will then engage and be in the correct position.
I have in the past ordered timers/knobs/cams etc for these clones whether badged, Servis, Whirlpool and Hygena, it’s always the same problem, no parts required.
