KeymasterTwo years ago I gutted my kitchen, and threw out my Creda cooker. It was actually a very good cooker, the fan-assisted oven was great – one of the best ovens I’ve ever had.
For my new kitchen I bought a Whirlpool built-in oven (AKZ151). What a freaking disaster it’s been. 👿 I haven’t had any technical problems with it, it appears to work as it should, but everything has to be cooked at 30 to 40 degrees hotter than the recipe says. Nothing browns in it. Condensation runs down the inside of the oven door while cooking, and things always look steamed rather than roasted 👿
The instructions say that the browning function needs to be used when roasting meat, but I’m damned if I can get the browning function to work. Supposedly, you press ‘button 2’, but it seems like you can use that only if you’re using automatic timing.
lol, I’m not really expecting any real advice, just wanted to rant about how much I hate this oven.May 29, 2005 at 6:05 pm #136381runner55

Sorry – thought I was logged in when I posted that last message, but evidently not 🙄

ParticipantToo much steam?
Is it vented properly?
Is it Gas or Electric?
Who installed it?
Is it under Manufacturers warranty or Statutory Warranty?
Not fit for the purpose intended?
I’d be chasing the installer first (or checking the installation) and then going to the retailer/manufacturer.
You shouldn’t and don’t have to put up with an inferior product!!
Without you doing something about it the industry will not improve!!
May the force be with you!!

The electronic control of these ovens was a huge problem when we used to service these for whirlpool.
I have one at home and we too cook 40 degrees above requirements to ensure it works as it should. Its been reliable, and cosistent in never heating correctly from new.

Oh thank God it isn’t just me – I’d come to the conclusion that I must have an IQ of 65, if I couldn’t even get an oven to work! 😆
alexa – it’s an electric oven (now out of warranty), but it’s just really really bad. For instance, as far as I can see from the instructions you can’t set the oven to cook something for more than 4 hours. And the point I made above about not being able to figure out how to turn on the Browning Function. Lots of little details like that.
You’d expect that there would be some way for people to use just the basic oven operations easily, but there are too many options on a tiny dial, too many functions that need to programmed with a button that is also the timer and the heat control.
Like I said, just fed up of it, and grieving for my excellent Creda that could be set to turn on the oven and cook to the exact temperature required.
