    Hi Folks

Went to this yesterday – tripping ELCB – found water in fan chamber flicking up and soaking heater.

No apparent reason why this is happening – conderser looked fairly clean, pump working ok and cust says water collecting in water tray ok.

Just wondered if there could be a wet fluff blockage at drain hole from rear of condenser chamber to pump collecting tank causing a slow drain off? Felt all at back of chamber but couldn’t locate drain off hole to check although i managed to get the usual build up of damp fluff crud out of there.

Is this the most likely cause for this problem and if so is this a strip down to pump chamber to clear?

Had this problem on an old type hotpoint condenser drier the other day but couldn’t dry the heater out enough to clear earth fault and cust not prepaired to pay for new heater so not persuded. Would this have been a simmilar fault? Know the later hotpoint is prone to the drain off hole blocking up but thats a realitively easy access to clear.

Help and coments appreciated folks as always

    Thanks

    Mick

have used hair dryer on heaters to dry before today

long shot is the td in a cold draught so water could condense in heater box

if not then it is strip down an likely as not you will have to break rear fan to remove

    Thanks for the replies folks.

Does that mean yes it could be a blockage in the drain off? – is that what you guys have come across before?

Just out of interest – what about the Hotpoint one- same problem?

    Thanks

I’d say yes to both those questions, though I’ve only done a couple of the knights who say white.

Seen loads of Hotpoint ones, only one White Knight. At least you can get into the Hotpoint ones easily enough to clean them out, the White Knight is a nasty machine to work on. Changed a belt on one once, will quote double for the next one if I can bring myself to do it in the first place. 😥

Hotpoint ones are usually gunged up channels at back of condensor chamber, failure to keep the condensor clean ( what stupid design from a user perspective) and failing pump.
