ParticipantSymptoms:
If I run dryer on high heat setting it runs for 3 mins approx and cuts out. Wait a few mins and restarts ok from start button.
Continue on high heat and times get shorter before cut out, and longer for cool down?
On low heat it will run empty for 7-10 mins then cut out, but loaded with damp towels runs ok.
Parts replaced;
Inlet Thermostat. Manual TOC.
Checked Exhaust Thermostat. Close in normal, open when dipped in cup of tea! closes again when blown over. Cant verify temp opens closes though.
Other points noted. When its running drum squeaks intermittently and appears to stutter prior to cutting out completely. ( like an engine running out of fuel.
Could Ex- Thermo be operating early (less 60 deg).
Please help, Wife’s wagging finger at me :eeek:January 28, 2012 at 11:44 pm #367899gandh1

can you please verify cl247wv is the correct model?
if its vented, id be checking vent hose for fluff clogging and that hose isnt bent over or drooping below the height of wall hole…

Hi Gandh1.
Thanks for the reply. I can confirm its Cl247WV. I’ve taken Vent hose off and cleaned it from the fan to exit. I’m also running it on low heat setting just now as it’s ok up to a point. That’s leading me to think it IS the exhaust Thermostat as its the one controlling the elements. When the clothes are in it is slowing the rate the Ex- Thermo is reaching its cut off point. However I’ve ordered one as its the last device controlling temp? Probably been cheaper buying a new dryer. lol.January 31, 2012 at 4:22 pm #367901P192

BIG problems.
Replaced Inlet and exhaust thermostats. Replaced manual Thermal cut out. Still shutting down on high heat setting after a few mins. Low heat works fine with no problems.January 31, 2012 at 8:22 pm #367902gandh1

p192, i have tried both of my main spares distributors and neither recognise that model number not even google does!
Not sure if anyone on here using master part could say whether its on their system. Cant really help or cross check if the parts you have are correct im afraid…
Without being able to find info on the model, i cant tell you if it has other certain parts on it! However, you say it cuts out totally, iirc with w/k’s when one of the stats fail it will just stop the heating circuit, not the motor drive as well. Also i just noticed you says it stutters, w/k are known for the plastic fans to wear where they use a pin to secure them to the shaft, this could easily cause a stuttering sound, as the inertia kicks in when the motor stops to reverse its action, and obviously if its worn so bad, it will not be able to move the amount of air necessary to stop it cutting out.
can you take a picture of the sticky label on the rear for us please?

What is the point of this post in an old thread?
I have removed part of the link so it does not open. White Knight will have a copyright on this sort of information and by posting it in the public domain we could be in breach of copyright if we leave it be.

The last post on the thread was 18 months ago so either the OP repaired or had it repaired or has by now replaced it by now.
The Crosslee link is fine if the public wish to download direct from their site for their own use, it’s the sharing part in a public domain I was trying to protect.Fair shout though 🙂
