HI. My dryer has stopped turning, belt ok and will turn if I give it a nudge to start it. Makes a screechy, whining noise. Before going down the route of a costly replacement, I thought I’d try changing the capacitor as apparently it’s quite a common problem. I’m aware the capacitor is by the motor and I know what it looks like, I just don’t know where in my dryer these are located. There are loads of panels and tons of tiny screws and I don’t really want to futilely take the whole thing apart if I could just go straight to the right panel and get to it directly! Knowing my luck I’ll never get the flipping thing back together!

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks,
    Samantha

    Hi Samantha,

Unfortunately for safety reasons we cannot instruct you on the dismantling of your machine in any way. Sufice to say that the motor and capacitor are underneath the drum and are only accessed by partial dismantling of the machine.
Having said that, I should really say that the “screeching” does sound like there is a little more serious problem than you think and you should really have a professional assess the fault. FIND AN ENGINEER
