    This dryer has started to either not turn or to only turn one way ie does not reverse. ocassionaly it works corectly. Any sugestions re fault tracing would be appreciated.

    If it hums when it doesn’t start, it’ll need a motor start/run capacitor. If it doesn’t hum, or the stop/start/reverse sequence is rather random, it’s probably the timer.

    Power off if you’re going in……

    I have now replaced the timer with a new one from UK White Goods, but the problem persists, it only rotates one way except very occastionally it briefly reverses direction.

    You haven’t said wether or not you replaced the motor capacitor before you fitted a timer, which is what Penguin45 actually suggested.

    No I have not because it does not stop and hum it just keeps going one way
