KeymasterI have a white knight wk447 reverse action dryer.
When its switched on i am getting power to all components but the drum won’t rotate.
Give the drum a little push and it starts, until the reversing action tries to kicks in and it tries to change direction.
I have a feeling its the capacitor on the motor but what does everyone else think?May 21, 2005 at 8:27 pm #135397Penguin45

Diagnosis is correct, you want one of these:

All readers be advised that push starting the motor isnot a safe procedure – fingers have been lost over the years.

Spot on 😉
Check the uf value and you’ll find one here:

Power off before replacing of course :plug:

I have exactly the same problem with my white knight cl767 tumble dryer. How do i find out what capacitor i need (i can’t seem to find the manual that would have come with the machine), and how easy is it to fit for a novice? Do i have to take the motor out, where is the capacitor located in the machine?

Is what you require. The capacitor may be accessed through the lower rear panel of the dryer – with the power off of course :plug: .

I am still trying to find the capacitor. I’ve taken off the back panel, and now trying to take off the lower panel, but there is a white round vent (i think this is what it is) on the bottom left hand side, and i’ve taken the screw out but it does not pull off. Don’t want to force it off in case i break it. I can’t get the lower panel off, unless i get this white round vent off. Am i looking in the right place?

The lower panel is the only one that needs to come off. Capacitor is in the vicinity of the motor. Unplug first.

Thanks for the info. But, i’m still confused. What about this white round vent, i cant get the lower panel of unless this comes out, and although i’ve taken the screw out, it won’t come off. Should it just pull out, or am i looking in the wrong place.
Thanks for any help

Hold on chaps, this isn’t the 447 at the top of the thread, it’s a 767 which is a condenser………
Sorry Steve – bit of a mis-understanding. This one is a total demolition job to access the motor. The entire back panel, fan, heater and drum has to come out from memory and it is a complete sod of a job, even for us professionals. If you’re not feeling confident, I’d stop now and get some pro help.
Check Directories or Repairs@ for a UKW repairer in your area.
Apologies and regards,
