    Hi,

I have (well, I don’t, but I’m trying to fix it… The things I get myself into) a White Knight cl767 tumble dryer and the belt has snapped. Been down to the spares shop and got myself a new one, but that leaves the problem of how to get it on.

I’ve got the top off and, looking down on it, all I can see is the drum. No way to get past it to the motor. So I’ve tried to get the back off, but all that’s achieved is a big pile of screws and a pool of blood on the floor. There’s a white rotary vent on the back which is obstructing a couple of screws. I’ve tried unscrewing that but it seems to be bonded to the shaft.

    So, what do I do?

Do I need to take the back off or is it easier from the front? Oh, and if anyone knows where I could obtain a manual it would be very much appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Mike

Mike this is a complete pig of a job!

The fan has to come off( but not normally in one piece). Then the back and motor covers and another 1,000,000 screws.

If I were you I`d save the blood and tears and click on Repairs@ on the side of the page.

You have to be careful trying to get the fan off as it’s easy to bend the motor shaft. That’ll leave you with a very noisy machine when it’s rebuilt.
These fans jam onto the shaft and are very difficult to remove. In the past I’ve used a hammer and screwdriver to crack the fan where the key on the shaft is. This enables it to be drawn off quite easily. If you’re very careful doing this the fan can be reused and the shaft doesn’t get bent.
As always, if you are attempting any repair yourself, power off and unplug first.

Easiest way to get the fan off: heat the centre of the fan & shaft with a hairdryer, get it nice & warm then use 2 big long screwdrivers to gently prise the fan away from the shaft.
