    Hi,

I was called to this machine because it would not tumble. Found dry joint on relay on control board. This fixed the tumble problem. She mentioned that the clothes had recently not been drying properly prior to the tumble problem. Asked customer to see how it goes now re-soldered dry joint.

Customer has rang back to say that the clothes seem drier but that they are still slightly damp at the end. Not like she has been used to as they would come out bone dry. Machine is now tumbling ok. She tries to do them a bit more but because the machine is a sensor type it thinks the clothes are dry and won`t continue. Water is being pumped into the drain draw ok apparently as she has to empty it.

    Any ideas 💡

Could someone describe what the machine senses? Is it humidity, temp or static charge. The sensor I think is basically a carbon brush rubbing on the outside of the drum and appears is fine.

Hi laurance if i remeber that appliance senses when the clothes are dry by measuring the resitance between the drum and the drum paddles, the more humidtiy the lower the resistance, dry clothes or no clothes in the drum and the appliance will stop after about 10 mins if i recall.

hope that is of help if not i will try and find the service manual.

    Cheers Bob.

    Hi Bob,

    Thanks for that.

Does that mean there are some kind of insert in the paddles?

With no clothes it will tumble once then stop.

Does the service manual give commonly occuring faults list?

    Much obliged,

    Laurence

i think the carbon brush runs on an insulated ring on the outside of the drum assembly, this ring is connected to the drum paddles top ridge. if i remember correctly will have a look at the manual but i think it is only exploded diagram and a parts listing.

    Hi lauren

have you tired to take the drum paddles of as they collect fluff inside them and give a false readind

    Hi
It may not be faulty at all.
Only going off some off the bosch sensor dryers, they have a cupboard dry setting but will always leave clothes slightly unaired, electronic sensoring on err of caution maybe.
Also if customer isnt putting enough garments in there the sensor doesnt sense correctly either.

True – these do seem to work better with a full load. If removing the paddles to clean, you need to get the metal strips off the paddles and the springs underneath – they all get clagged with fluff, which affects the resistivity circuit.

    Cheers,
    Chris.

Hi Folks, Thanks for your time in responding, this is all very helpful as I go and re-examine the machine next week.
