My fiance’s White Knight CL741 dryer has stopped heating. The drum turns but there is no heating. Unfortunately we can’t find the manual. I have seen the note on the front about the red heater cut-out switch on the back. When I checked it there didn’t appear to be anything stuck out at all, so I don’t think it is that. Is there anything else that I should check? I have done various repairs to an old washing machine of mine, so am prepared to replace parts so long as the job too big.

A short while before this happened, I put the plastic outlet pipe into a drainage pipe that had been used by an old washing machine. (She had been draining into a bucket on the floor). Do you think that that may be a cause of the problem?

As you can see I am not at all familiar with condenser dryers, and so could do with a replacement manual. Does anyone know where I can get a user manual for the CL741 (I have checked other threads but cannot find a site)?

    Thanks in advance

Have you firmly depressed the red button then tried it again I wonder?

    Wow! That was fast. Thanks.

Yes I have tried pressing the red button, even though it was not stuck out at all (the red plastic cover was slightly depressed). Does it require much force to press it back in?

No, but if the red button is a rubber grommet inset in the rear panel it will need a firm press in its centre.

Finally got time to re-try pressing the red button last night, but without any success I’m afraid. Still no heat. Any other thoughts as to a possible cause would be greatly apprieciated.

As to the lost manual. One quick e-mail to Crosslee customer service, and they are sending a replacement. So thumbs up for Crosslee!

It’s going to be thermostat or heater failure in that case then by the sound of it Xkutzie.

Engineer time if your not confident/unable to check such components.

Have a look at repairs@ and the directories for an engineer near you 😉

Re: White Knight Condenser Dryer Not Heating

I’ve replaced a drive motor and door boots on a washing machine before now. So, so long as it’s not a bigger job than that, I am probably able to have a go myself. Any idea what sort of price the spare thermostat or heater is likely to be?

There are two thermostats other than the manual reset one plus the heater, all three are circa £20 each.

Thanks for all your help. As you thought, it was the cut out. For some reason, I wasn’t able to reset it by pressing the red button, but once I had removed the back cover, I was able to do so. The dryer is now working fine, and my fiance is happy.
