ParticipantHi, I wonder if anyone can help me with this please?
I have a White Knight Eco 43A gas tumble dryer with a heating issue.
The plate on the back reads Type : BG43A, Code: 0207 43A 15072, 0086 87BP21.
Another sticker reads: Model 0207 43A 15072 No. 1005812957
The machine was new 2010.
When it is first switched on, the gas comes on and lights and the machine runs for about 5 minutes. The gas then switches off and the drum reverses direction. Shortly after this the gas comes on but only stays on for about 8 seconds. Subsequently, the gas will not stay for any longer than 8 seconds any time during the cycle that it lights. I initially suspected the gas failure electrode but if it this, would it allow the initial fire up to run for 5 minutes?
Would it be one of the thermostats? Where are these located and am I able to test these? Am I barking up the wrong tree completely?!
If I need to get any of these parts, where would I source them?
I’ve done a thorough clean up inside the machine, vent and vent hose, there’s nothing obviously amiss inside.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.January 17, 2023 at 11:03 am #485416electrofix
Moderatorwell 2 bad news results here
1 you need a gas safe engineer as we cant give advise an gas appliance for legal and safety reasons. Although you could have a close look at air flow making sure all filters are clear ( hold it up to the light ) and ducts are not blocked
2 white knight have ceased production in this country so spares availability is almost zero

ParticipantThank you Dave for your reply. Yes, all the intakes and exhaust tracts are clear.
It’s really annoying that companies don’t hold spares as this is probably going to be relatively straight forward to fix and it is a good economical dryer (comparatively!) in good working condition apart from this fault!January 17, 2023 at 12:41 pm #485418electrofix
Moderatorwell all the spares came from the crosslee factory in Hudderfield. if you need spares now you just have to hope someone has stock or you can find a used spare on ebay.
other bad news is as far as i know they were the only manufacturer of gas domestic dryersDave

KeymasterYou are correct Dave.
White Knight as it was when they made them and a bunch of other machines no longer exists, it was bought by Vestel, the factory closed, the land and all tooling sold off so, no hope of any parts now.
And also correct, they were the only company ever to make a gas dryer, though sold by others branded for a short while many years ago.
