I have just replaced the element in the fan oven of my White Westinghouse cooker after it exploded all over my meat pie & chips.

Everything went well until I tried to use the oven. There is no power to the fan oven (top oven works). There are no shot fuses in the main fuse box and I cannot find any other fuse point.

Can someone please advise me how to resurrect the oven if it is possible.

    Cheers,

    Peck.

    Bob.

The clock/timer is not set and the oven is on manual cooking. The clock has not worked since the element exploded. The bottom fan oven has no power whatsoever but the top oven works just fine.

    It’s got me bamboozled!!

    Cheers Bob,

    Peck.

    Hi

If the clock has stopped working then this is most likely the problem , new clock required .

    Hi Mike

Will I have to take out the whole unit to fit this new clock?

    Cheers,

    Peck.

Yes, the oven will have to be removed from it’s housing to access.

Please make sure it’s disconnected from the supply when you’re checking anything :zap:

Alternatively try Repairs@ for an engineer 🙂

    STOP it’s not the clock.

There is a fuse in the back of the oven. The top oven is on a totally different supply than the bottom so this is the cause.

Depending on the model it’s either a thermal fuse type or a self resetting switch which cannot take the current when an element blows.

Should cost pence to fix rather than big pounds

    Hi Woz,

Turned off electricity supply to oven (model no: 07-206106) and removed from housing. I then removed all the sheet panels and could not find any fuses or switches.

All the wires were intact and everything seemed ok to a novice like me.

    Any ideas?

    Ta,

    Peck.

    Hi Woz,

Finally found the limiter in the back of the oven. Replaced it and the oven is working again.

    Cheers,

    Peck.
