Went to one of these CL787 condensor dryers today. Customer said it smelt of burning and now wont work. After investigating, the belt had been burnt and snapped as the drum is very tight. Never done a belt on one of these before. Anyone know what there like to do?

rob, very stange that the belt was burnt…dryer belts are usually very tight if there is no jockey pulley arrangement but not usually exposed to the kind of heat which would cause it to burn. any visible clues inside the cabinet as to source of such extreem heat because if the belt was burnt there should be some other evidence of the source.

rob after coffee and a fag, brain kicked in…is the drum rotating freely? if not, motor would turn and with drum jammed the belt might well overheat and as the motor is still turning against a non moving belt it would create enough friction to burn it out..back to the coffee.

Sorry, perhaps I didnt explain correct. The belt is burnt because the motor pully had been spinning round without the drum moving as the drum is tight to turn. Maybe a trapped garment or something. I have just heard from a couple of engineers that these things are evil to work on so im weighing up if i want to take the job on or not. Then another engineer told me that there ok, and its not a bad job, hence the UKW post. I will take it on no doubt, (dont want to let any customer down.)

rob..bitch is the word. if you can take take it to wokrkshop and then you can express you true feeling out loud. find the cause of the drum jam first.
sorry if this is too obvious 😳
