ParticipantHi
Have a problem with a whrilpool washing machine, I did sorry to post this question in wrong section,Machine will switch on showing red active led,the motorised programmer knob will motor around, but on any wash cycle the washer will not fill with either hot or cold water, and the same on a spin rinse cycle , but you can hear the pump running.
Also the drum will only very intermittently run but slowly, but will not turn in the spin and rince cycle.
the fault started by stopping longer than normal between cycles in a wash programme, but did finish the proramme, then it got worse
any one any ideas
thanks

Hi,
Just to let you all know I have fixed the Whrilpool washerFault turned out to be worn out motor brushes, not sure why the water never came in , may have been that the logic of the machine expects to see motor tacho before opening the water mag valves, or may be a red herring.
As most of you repair folks may well know, this model is not that bad to work on, the motor is held on by one bolt which has a captive thread, and almost self adjusts the belt tension by the weight of the motor pulling down on the belt.
there is no motor control board so the programmer is driving all the motor windings by relays, and no transformer to fail in the programmer, as its just mains ac into the bridge rectifier
The local repair shop had the brushes in stock at £18:00 a set, albeit they were not a direct match the brush tapper was the opposite way, so you have to turn the brush in the plastic body by 180 degrees, and cut a bit out of the plastic body to let the brush connection tail out.
Thanks fella’s and ladies
