ParticipantThat is, one that sits on a charging base for heating up.
Owing to our present Moulinex taking an unscheduled dive from the ironing board to the tiled concrete floor, we set off to replace it. We can find plenty of corded ones and we can find plenty of “steam generators”.
The only one we could find actually available was a Tefal 1690 which looks ideal, but is on a site called giddyaunt.com that I’ve never heard of. Contact details are an 0871 number that doesn’t come up on saynoto0870, and what looks to me like an accommodation address. Maybe I’m just getting too cynical in my old age.
Any help gratefully received.
Edit to add: I appreciate that an iron may not strictly be a ‘whitegoods’ subject, but you’ve all been so helpful in the past and I didn’t know where else to go!

Which is probably one of the reasons why none of the mainstream suppliers are producing them.

Thanks – we’ve given up the search (partly thanks to your answers) and are now off to check what’s left in the sales 🙂

I am quite a fan of cordless irons (not those horrid Steam Gen Things or for that matter the dreaded Domena Press that ironed in more creases than it took out…..shiny pants well that is another story.)
Hopefully you have managed to get one! – WQ

KeymasterI have to admit I wondered that as well but, even more curious, is that people think they will get a decent iron for £20 let alone a cordless one. Very strange.

Oh Gosh looks like I could be wrong! As far as I know it may be a one that can be used either with the cord or cordless. I know Goblin used to do a one as did Hinari.
Maybe an e-mail to Argos may clarify?

Even more curious Kenwood only show one travel iron on there website, nothing about irons in general at all.
It could be one of those dreaded cord / cordless jobbies but I don`t think the cable block has any clips for this purpose.
