ParticipantHello to all members !
I have been deceived by the administration of Premium Appliance Brands ! Who is reliable in our world ?
My Wine Cooler obtained Sept 2007 from B&Q, model : BWC300SS, S/N : BWC300SS-070600119, LG compressor, Made in China is turning all the time and does not reach the required temperature. It goes down to 12 °C or 13 °C (reading value) and keep turning. It never reaches the required temperature of 5 °C that I want and keyed in.
I could only see 2 reasons for this fault :
1 – It could be that the temperature control unit (sender and/or screen tell a wrong information. So the real temperature would be about right but the reading of it would be wrong ?
2 – The compressor and/or cooling system is wrong and does not produce enough cold to bring the temperature down to the required value.
Could somebody help me to determine what is wrong and what are the different solutions that I could use without throwing the whole thing to the scrap ?
Are components available for this appliance ?Alain DUFOUR
Thanks in advance for help

Sounds like option 2.
Parts will probably be a non-starter given that PABL no longer exist. So I wouldn’t put a huge amount of effort into it.

Thanks to kwatt.
Like the Darwin saying ! Does apply to PABL !
Still trying the option N° 1 in raising up the temperature required. I will try to get a thermometer and measure it to know exactly where I am.
I do not like, as a consummer, these companies policies ! Kill, suck your blood and abandon your carcass to the vautours !August 17, 2012 at 11:21 pm #379599agwarn

Is the Condensor fan running with the compressor?

Hello and thanks to take interest in my pb.
Yes it is.
It looks that pb come from regulation and controls.
As I have left it on at 18 °C temperature keyed in, this morning it was doing short cycles runs. It was runing for 20 seconds and stopping for the same time.
It looks that it is going to be a luxury cupoboard !August 18, 2012 at 11:21 am #379601Dales-Electronic

Alain,
As you are aware this unit is designed to operate between 5-22C as the optimum temp for wine storage is 13C Obviously you are trying to operate at the maximum range of its cooling. First thing Id do is check that the condenser is free of fluff and that the internal fan is also running. If its in a cupboard then move it out and see if it works as ventilation is a big problem with wine coolers. Parts are available as the item is Baumatic.

Hello and thanks for your post.
Everything is running OK : compressor, internal fan and so on … It is actually running too much : ie all the time and never reach temperature required on controls.
No fluff either : you think it was the first thing I look at.
This unit is 5 years old and has worked OK all that time (at 5 °C as I am a beer drinker – although the new wines like the Beaujolais or Champagne are to be drunk right cool)
If set for 5 °C it runs all the time reaching only 13/14°C.
If set for 18 °C it runs for 10/20 seconds and stop for the same time.
If set for 14 °C it runs about right and produce some cold (not measured)
As I posted before I really think that it is a problem of controls / regulation either with senders or control box.
If there are still parts with Baumatic, I might take it to you, if you do these repairs. I am in Sheffield and go quite often to Lincoln. Although I am to leave to-morrow for Paris for few weeks, but could still keep in touch for when I come back !
Tell me if you do these repairs please.
Thanks in advance

No probs – with what you have told me I think you have either a gas problem or failing compressor. Both do-able – big problem for these is that they are usually under engineered. Need really to get a set of gauges on it to be sure.
