Wine Cooler Repair

Cooler switches on no issues, control panel lights up and compressor runs. After a while the compressor becomes hot although the cooler doesn’t chill. There are no fans around the compressor so can rule that out as an issue.

I checked the resistance across the compressor, PTC relay and overload relay and all seemed to check out – overload relay had 2 ohms of resistance so bought a replacement and PTC relay just to be safe.

Any suggestions?

if the compressor is running then its either a gas problem ( lack of or none ie leaked out) or the compressor is gone

either way its a specialist job and unless its just gas and then maybe its worth it but the compressor is not

i could not do this job so as a non professional you will not be able to

How much to regas roughly?

Compressor swap, somewhere North of about £120 I’d think.

Regassing it, depends who does it where but think on about £80 plus.

Nope. Dave is correct I’d think by the sound of it.

It’s probably a dodgy pot as, it’ll probably be a Chinese thing, with a Chinese pot in it so, the math says…

There’s a lot of these about right now with leaking evaporators.
That’s probably the root cause of the problem.

It’s a few years old and has been transported on its side a few times – looks like a trip to the dump is needed.
