Hello guys. Perhaps someone can clear this up for me.

It is okay to wire a single integrated oven with a 13amp plug as long as the maximum consumption of the appliance is less than 2.9kW? Therefore wiring a single integrated oven which has a maximum consumption of 2.3kW into a 13amp plug is no problem?

    Many thanks.

Unless it states in manufactures instructions it needs to be hard wired like zanussi

Any ideas why a manufacturer would state that their sub 2.9kW appliance would need hard wrirng? Logically, a 13amp plug can either handle the maximum load or not? Are they just trying to reduce the liklihood of an incompetent customer going DIY?

its because the oven will draw a large current for ages and since it near the max output things can start to get warm

I think it has more to do with badly made electrical sockets etc that are just about up to the job but that my take on it
