My washing machine, has started complaining about faults that do not exist.

    • It will fill with water, and close tap, then it shows a tap closed fault and drains.[/*:m:li2a67e7]
    • Sometimes it will show a check filter fault, it will then drain.[/*:m:li2a67e7]

It can show tap closed, when doing drain & spin program (so no need for the tap).

I have cleaned filter, and tried to clean machine, with cleaning tablets; It did not finish the cycle. It just filled and drained. However there seems to be no problem with the flow of water through the machine. The fault lights do not seem to match the problem. It is like the only problem is with the diagnostic system.

I can’t find a service manual, and don’t know what to check.
My background. Degree in electronics, and competent in electrical.

    What should I check first?

Check first the heater/element for earth leakage. Then check the motor and its motor carbon brushes.
