Wixl143 won’t switch on

Hi,

I have an Indesit/Hotpoint wixl143 for about 9 yrs, that has suddenly stopped working. I.e. It won’t switch on at all. I have checked the fuse and the wall socket and they are ok.

Considering the length of time it has been in use I suspect that the on/off switch has simply failed, the reason I suspect this is that just before it failed to switch on permanently it wouldn’t switch on, until I switched it off the wall opened the door, closed it and switched it on from the wall again, after that last wash, it simply refused to switch on after that.

Has anyone had a similar experience where the wixl143 simply refuses to switch on (no lights)?

What seems to be the usual cause?

The pcb or the on/off switch?

Does anyone know where I can get hold of an on/off switch for the wixl143?

The on/off switch is part of the console pcb, at least three different versions of this model so full model number including any suffix is needed to ID. This PCB is around £60 but the main pcb can also cause this problem as well.

Thanks for replying,

It simply says wixl143,1400 spin, and 6kg loads on the machine, there is also a P just to the right of the wash selection.

No other model numbers are apparent.

Look on the back, the full numbers are often on there.

There is a 143UK, 143SUK, 143SUK/Y and a 143UKTEV.

The ones with S in the model are just the silver grey variants.

How many rotary knobs does it have on the front?

It has 2 rotating knobs.

One for the temperature, and the other for the wash selection (13 preset wash selections).

Control pcb is a C00143085.
