ParticipantCustomer called me said he had siemens out in April to check not drying – dryer thermal cutout tripped – engineer tested and reset and went away. its 3 years old E04 code was logged – according to this model has two dryer sensors one on duct the other on the condenser? – reading some the codes relate to E04 as wash sensor?
They generally only use this for drying towels. which sensor is it likely to be anyone had any dealings with such a new machine, could be down to over loading with towels and too long dry time but just want to check before i look. CheersJuly 11, 2017 at 10:20 am #448870Martin

There is a mod on these where the condenser duct is replaced and the NTC is taped up and tied to the adjacent wiring harness. (I wonder if that was done in April?).
3 yrs old and condenser at the bottom, by the corrugated hose, could be clogged? Also I wonder how often customer carried out the ‘Fluff Clean’ cycle? (I know what Paul Daniels would have replied. 😉 )

Cheers Martin, I will try and find out! AFAIK nothing was done in April by the engineer according to customer except reset over heat cut out. so wouldn’t know if mod has been done prior to visit. So if not should this have been done by the engineer?

I don’t know the answer there Steven or the reason for the mod. It seems BSH info is lacking now on UKW as their known engineers have become scarce by their absence of late. 🙁

smeggy do da machine. Us smeg agents don’t know of any such mod….. although most don’t have a second dry sensor, some do- its in the rear (facing front) of the condenser.
common issue though but E4 is a wash temp ntc issue not the dryer.
If the dry one has tripped its a condenser out job and a good clean of the condenser and each little blade of the fan… easy job after your first 100 or so. Be careful though as there are a few hoses that can pop off the dispenser un noticed. Also check for fluff build up on the dry sensor at the front- easy to reach up from the door seal and remove fluff around it.
oh and the clean fluff programme? useless, does nothing. But if the reminder light is flashing its a good way to blame the customer for the issues. -
