ParticipantJust about to tackle my first WMA bearings on S/no 17122286, after referring all to Hotpoint under 5 yrs old. Will the blue Tub rear half 1603409 fit it complete with bearings?. If i just replace bearings into old tub and new shaft which part number bearing kit do i use. Or must the tub rear half be replaced. Am using Qualtex freefind for parts but wma 20 is not listed.
Regards

Same as you mate i’ve referred all them to Hotpoint, so i’ve never even had to do any, done hundreds of the WMs & 95## series, let me know how you go about it, does the fromt come off & drum come out the fromt on this model or is it taken out the top? Reckon i’ll be doing one soon enough..

Those 3 spider bolts are a pig. One drill bit per bolt destroyed and two T27 bits snapped (Halfords professional). Tried the Blowtorch on bolts, cooling with WD40. Plenty of creaking noises but will not budge. Jewellers screwdriver/WD40 to remove torx bits from head. No bolts in stock at supplier. Promised Cust del tomorrow. Doorseal holed near interlock rub. Oh no!
Apart from that Job is straightforward. 😆S.

Easier than Zanussi. Will buy proper drill bits.

Only if you’re going to baste it on the barbeque – the blubber is usually enough to ensure even cooking. One less to worry about……….. 😀 😀
The door seal’s an easy fit after the spider – very straightforward.

Why is the new seal better?

Number 8 bullet drill does the trick, usually lasts for three or four spiders.
A 1604470, is spider/seals/ bolts all in one.
I normally use the Blue Peter approach, “heres one I made earlier”
I have a complete drum made up at home then swapping them over in the home is fairly simple, and much less messy. Then I rebuild the displaced drum with whatever is required in my garage.September 26, 2005 at 9:34 am #148052iadom

Because it couldn’t be any worse. 😥 It does seem to be a big improvement, I have not seen any fail, ( yet ) 😉September 26, 2005 at 6:46 pm #148053Simon46

In what way? On the Zanussi you don’t disturb the soap dispenser or the timer/module, you can pretty much leave the wiring in place as it only goes to the back half of the tub, you don’t have the silly spring clip thing on the tub joint or the bushes where the springs fit on and you have already noted that replacing the spider is more difficult on the Hotpoint. I also find the plastic pegs for the suspension units are harder to pull out on the Hotpoint.

The tub is featherweight after blocks removed.
