Hi guys – me again 😉
Same machine as before, a different problem this time!
This time the machine is making a sort of grinding/clicking noise whenever the drum is turning under power. The noise is not apparent when the machine is on a spin cycle when the drum is slowing (which to my mind would indicate the bearing is not the problem, plus there is no extra play in the drum). The machine clicks for the motor to switch on/off, however while the motor is on it sounds like something is loose in the machine. This machine is nearly 12 years old now, and sees frequent use – could the motor brushes or drive belt need replacing?
This machine has never been serviced. The machine still completes its spin cycle at the moment – however it does occasionally stop mid cycle and reset (so instead of having “rinse and spin” lights lit, it has three lights (wash, rinse, spin) lit), leading me to put it on a spin cycle to get the water out of the load. The noise is worse when it is loaded, but is still there when the machine runs empty (I guess due to the load on the motor to overcome increased inertia of a loaded drum?).
Any ideas?
