Just a bit of a query on this; it’s actually our own dryer.

The rear edge of the drum barrel where the support wheels run has started to break up, indeed Mrs P presented me with a razor sharp strip of metal about an inch long, with the words “I told you it was making a funny noise”, when I got in last night.

As a replacement barrel is about £80, we’re going to replace it; I’m just curious as to why this has happened. It’s only about 18 months old.

    Cheers,
    Chris.

    Hi Penguin 45

I am doing drum changes on these regularly. I look at the rolls (wheels) that the drum rests on and they look as if they wear down. They go from being flat to rounded and pointy. The weight of the wet clothes in the drum which run on these rolls thins the drum hence the cracking of the drum.

    Hope this helps

Aha! That make sense, thanks. Thought there was something fishy about Dave’s post.

    Chris.
