KeymasterI’m getting hacked off with some of the sh1t people chuck so, thoughts on the following if you please and, fair warning, I may have enjoyed a light libation…
K.
There is lot of stuff that people get wrong about the WTA and we think that’s largely because of how other trade associations work, not how the WTA works.
We’d like to set the record straight.
The management team earn money from the association
Completely wrong.
The team don’t earn a single penny from the WTA. Nothing.
They do what they do because they are trying to help all the independent repairers and, they just happen to be exactly that so, by helping all the membership, they also help themselves.
The only difference is that, unlike most members, these kind souls give up their time, effort, blood, sweat and tears to help accomplish that goal as much as they can.
In return they receive the sum total of, nothing.
The team do it for personal gain
As above.
Even when there is work offered to members the way that the management team works ensure that, just like every single other member, they’re company name is put forward just like everyone else’s is.
No favouritism is offered nor would it ever be tolerated due to the culture of the WTA.
That would be wrong and it would be, in our view, dishonest and therefore completely unacceptable.
There is no “old boys club” mentality, as it one of the very things the WTA has gone out of its way to ensure never happens.
Team members get paid expenses
Sometimes they do and, they can claim expenses as, after all they spent their money working for the good of all.
Thing is, it usually doesn’t work out like that.
Much of the time the management team members don’t bother to claim expenses. If you don’t believe this then, if you’re a member, just ask to see the accounts as it’s all there. This is just the culture that exists in the WTA, that of small businesses that don’t have money to waste so, they don’t waste money!
So if the management team has a meal or a few drinks when they’re out conducting business for the membership, the members aren’t paying for it.
Even when they do actually bother to claim expenses, they usually don’t claim all the expense. Regardless of badgering them to do so!
This helps keep membership fees as low as possible making membership more accessible to as many people as possible.
Team members get kickbacks
No, they don’t.
Again, the culture in the WTA simply does not allow this and, if anyone (even members) got caught taking a kickback then they would be removed and, have been removed.
Anything even remotely dishonest is not tolerated whatsoever with the WTA. It is an absolute zero tolerance policy.
UK Whitegoods controls the WTA
Wrong, it doesn’t.
UKW provides much of the day-to-day admin, accounting and online technical support to the WTA for free, that is true.
UKW provides this free because UKW has always supported the independent repairers and, by doing this they can help to make a bigger difference to more repairers. And, if you look around this website you will not find any banner ads, text ads or any other kind of adverts for UKW anywhere at all.
All you will find is support from UKW and that saves the WTA a fortune in part allowing for the almost ludicrously low membership fees.
Beyond this UKW has no influence over the WTA whatsoever nor wants it as it sees the WTA as having to have independence.
The WTA is a totally separate entity that manages itself. UKW is not involved in that.
UKW helps, that’s all it does.
