    Hi Guys,

I have a WT741G /2 version (one with a complete plastic tub) that is causing me problems,

It ran fine but i could smell a burning smell fom the pcb so i checked the connections etc and ran it again – worked fine but still smelt, i ran it one more time then the it stopped during that wash with H20 in the display – Checked the board – it had blown, The burnt/blown area was around the connector with 6 wires (mainly around the first red wire but was quite a big blow) and the connector had slightly singed too. Anyhow i replaced the pcb and all works fine again but the burning smell is still present.
What am i missing? Any help would be much appreciated.
    Ollie.

Would it still work fine as it does with a shorted inlet valve?
I’ve noticed the wiring where its is discoloured on the connecter and blown on the old board looks to be the red and blue from the element although i’ve fitted a new element when i fitted the pcb yet still smells quite strongly of burning.

Just because one is shorting a little wont necessarily always stop it from working, but if you leave one that is shorting too long it will blow your board…

    Thanks george,
Sounds daft but how can i tell if its shorting? This no marking around either of them.

Check the valve with a multimeter on ohms… Should read 3 – 4 ohms .. if it is 0.00 ohms then the valve is shorted… Also chesk the cable for ‘trap shorts’ damage and do a test of the cable too, testing for breakages inside the cable that cause intermittant o/c and spikes.

Both read fine, no obvious breaks or anything, all insulation resistance reads o.k, Any other ideas, I’m really stuck on this guys.

Could be a burnt edge connector still making a poor contact and could send the new pcb the same way as the original. Check with magnifying glass.

that part of the connector that is discoloured from burning out the previous board is the red that goes to the pressure switch. Is there a way to test the pressure switch and could this be a possible cause? Connections all seem ok and theres no breaks in the cable.
