WVH28360GB/02 dryer fault

Dryer over heated and tripped safety stat, re set and ran it. Started off by filling in drum for 2/3 seconds then settled down.. dried the clothes but overheated again without counting down.. suspect sensor but wouldn’t it give a fault code??
