KeymasterI have informed CDSL that this year I will not be opening for Xmas week. Also that none of my engineers will be working and I have instructed them to all save 3 days off their yearly 5 weeks holiday entitlement.
Gary has now told me that this will cause them a serious problem and he’s not happy. I’ve told him that he has 51 weeks to find a solution and no matter what we are not opening.
If any one else fancies a week shutdown, do your contracts a favour, give em 51 weeks notice!!!

Keymaster🙂
They all know that we shut now and just accept it, it doesn’t seem to cause any issues.

just to illustrate what total twats they are. Last year wheni told them that we had always traditionally closed for christmas week I was told that I would have to provide service for the three days of christmas week.
Yet my beloved area manager pissed off from christmas eve till the 7 th of Jan, dont you just love the duplicitous twats 😉

Why are there two sets of rules. One for those of us with multiple engineers and those for one man bands.
If a one man band decides to have some time off which I agree they are entitlted too, CDSL just switch the postcodes for a time so why pick on Kev.
Some take the piss though and to date I know of one that has had at least six weeks holiday, and still wants the cream

As Jason says, the smaller players are allowed to get time off. Even to the extent we all get an e-mail in November asking us when are we open over the holiday.
They have second tier cover in most cases, and I thought this was why. However, if all agents were on holiday, what would they do?
We had our quietest 3 days ever in between Xmas & new year. We even closed at 4 p.m. as it was so dead. We would not get away with a shut down though as we have too many commitments, plus we are finding it bad enough to catch after 3 working days out of the system.

We closed an hour earlier and opened and hour later each day and still the office coud have closed at lunch time. Once again though we too have commitments which we are supposed to honour, yet some of the major work providers scale back drastically on there staffing an area mangers shut up shop, again one rule dosent suit all
