I’ve searched through your pages (excellent resource!) trying to find and answer so that I wouldn’t have to ask you, but didn’t find anything on this particular error code…….. what does 13 flashes indicate on the Ariston “wheel of fortune spinning dial syndrome”?
The machine’s nearly 3 years old now and could be considered for the skip, but until this weekend it’s been a reliable workhorse and is in A1 condition, shame to skip it if it can be fixed. Thanks for any help

F13 or 13 flashes indicates an error with the dryer temperature control so not a costly repair generally 🙂

Try Repairs@ for an engineer who can check the relevent components for you.

It won’t be time for the bin yet hopefuuly 😉

Many thanks for the info, unfortunately you do not list any engineers in this area but I will try the local Yellow pages. Thanks again.

Did you get this fixed in the end by the engineer? I also have the dreaded F13 error!!!! whats VERY VERY spooky is that it almost exactly 3 years since the machine was made (date taken from top of round knob on the inside)

I have taken the kick panel off mine and found a black plastic screw bung/plug. there was nothing at all on the inside except water. no screws/money (i wish) or tissue etc. I have checked the water inlet pipes and water outlet pipe and all seams to be clear and crack free.

You said that F13 could mean the “dryer temperature control” is caput, but is there a way to test this item myself? also is it easy for me to replace? can you source one?!

Thanks for your help in advance

    Phil

We can’t tell you exactly how to repair your appliance. You need to have and be able to use safely an electrical test meter, otherwise you’re on a hiding to nothing with this one – unless you catch lucky and spot the broken wire.

Do nothing without unplugging the appliance first. :plug:

I never did find an engineer up this way to look at the machine (nobody wants to touch Ariston!!), but it seems to work OK so long as we don’t use the dryer programs!?!! And I know this is a crock of xxxx but we think it’s going to be cheaper to buy a cheapo separate dryer than get this thing fixed what with engineer call out charges etc!! Unbelievable, but it’s the better option (and besides, the Ariston has a habit of burning clothes rather than drying them, and they’re still damp!!). Good luck with yours, I’m keeping an eye on a new Bosch, just in case!! Andy

Re: Yep, another Ariston AWD12 SUK – 13 flashes

Just incase im getting things wrong here, how do i get the exact code from the amount of flashes? do i start counting from as soon as i press the button on?

I had also better clarify exactly what the machine is doing…

Its an Ariston Margerita AWD 12 S (not awd 125 as some people write, unless thats another model)

If i choose the cycle no.8 for example, i turn the knob to 8, i have no other buttons pushed in. I then check the water valves are on under the sink (both hot and cold). the dryer is set to off and the temp is 30. I turn the machine on and it starts flashing slowly 13 times. it then starts to pump water out AND at the same time pumps water into the tray and into the machine. this will last about 5 mins. about 3 secs after it starts to pump in and out, the LED flashes again for 3 times…

is that what i should be counting as the error code? or the 13 at th beginning?

thanks for your speedy answers again!

    Phil

When you start the machine, the start light should be pulsing evenly. When the programme is accepted, there should be a quick flicker and the light should become steady. If a fault is detected, the selector dial should start to rotate. At the same time, the light will flicker in a pattern, ie 1-2-3-4 pause, repeat.

It flashes 3 times, then pauses for about 5 secs and repeats 3 flashes!!! WOW anyone would think you been on the ariston training course…

So, any ideas what 3 flashes means? please dont tell me its something silly like i forgot to plug the hose back on properly!!!

3 flashes is a temperature control problem (washing part, not the dryer).

Re: Yep, another Ariston AWD12 SUK – 13 flashes

In theory, yes. We have all the parts – what you have to do is diagnose the fault.

    1) Thermistor failure
    2) Wiring fault
    3) Heater fault
    4) Computer fault

Buying bits can be an expensive way to solve a problem. If you ain’t geared up for it, please get pro help. These are a particularly awkward machine to work on, and as you will probably have realise by now, not very popular in the trade.

We cannot give you exact instructions – you have to work this out or get pro help. Check Repairs@ or Directories if you’re not dure how to proceed.

Power off if you are investigating further. :plug:

Re: Yep, another Ariston AWD12 SUK – 13 flashes

ok step by step… (i love DIY)

i REALLY really dont wanna be paying £90 for ariston to come and fix this thing as i simply dont have the spare £££ (baby (8 months), wife (just lost her job!), house (only another 22 years to go…))

Lets get cracking… I have a 240v multimeter in me left hand and a screwdriver in my right!

Where do i start? The Thermistor? where should it be? how should i check it? I know you wont give precise instructions for legal reasons but…

    Hi Penguin,

I am an ex Merloni engineer, 100pc certain I know what has failed.

Would it be ok to advise, or is it not a good idea?

    Cheers
