As per Mrs Fletchers email, we did change a compressor on the 16th Feb for them and left the Appliance in full working order. On diagnosing the appliance (12/02/2006), the compressor was completely lifeless and therefore quoted and carried out the repair on the 16th. On the 8th March, a recall was initiated and a visit was made and the Appliance was found to be low on gas. We re-gassed (FOC) and again left the Appliance in full working order.
Again, on the 2nd May, another recall was initiated and a visit was arranged and once again, we found the Appliance to be low on gas. We again re-gassed
(FOC) and left the appliance in working order. I have explained to the Fletchers that there must be an internal gas leak on the Appliance as I have in total 3 times sent my Fridge Engineer to the Appliance and Twice re-gassed it. I have also explained that if there is an internal gas leak, there is not much more we can do.Thanks in advance.

Why did Ken have to write this yesterday????? 😆

Reading between the lines the repair was never a success, the customer paid out £180 for a repair that did not cure the problem and it is one of these cases that the repairer has to bite the bullet and refund some cash.
If it was one of mine I would give them the cash back less the estimate charge.

KeymasterIndeed John as there’s no way that an internal leak magically appeared after a pot change. 😕
I would refund as well, at least in part and be done with it if it was that much hassle.

Ditto with John.
They either got it wrong, or there is a subsequent leak from the fitting of the compressor. Internal leaks dont appear on their own, especially just after system work.
I strongly suspect the leak is following their visit. We all make mistakes, but I have to say the repairer needs to take this one on the chin. If he retails he could get a sale out of it. To be fair to him, he has made an effort. If you consider 3 recalls to date, and the sundries he is on a loser in any case.
Time for him to close the job down and move on.

ParticipantRe: Your input please
Just to finalise this, the company concerned are returning Friday this weeks to remove the compressor and refund less their call charge.
Customer is happy with that 🙂
Cheers

Sorry Guy’s, was away in Ireland when this was posted. The conclusion was as I would have suggested anyway.

…. and failed to turn up :haier:
customer wrote:Hi Dave,
Can you help once more?
Appliance Care did not show up last Friday to remove compressor and give me refund of £140.00. You can see by the e mail listed that they said there were delayed and would put a chq in the post…nothing received.
I have sent e mails and left messages to no avail….I am desperate to buy another fridge but am unsure as to what to do next.Email convo between themselves:
customer wrote:Hello Andrew,

Have you tried to contact him again since last friday Dave and if so have you just been ignored or is the guy away or ill.
We may at some stage have to consider removing him from repairs @ if he continues to blank us.

Hmmmmm
Think we have already been generous & given him the benefit of the doubt, and a chance to redeem himself.
May I suggest if not concluded satisfactorily by 1st post Monday we suspend this repairer from Repairs@. Of couse we need to notify him accordingly, and I suggest we do that on Monday.
He has admitted getting it wrong by agreeing to refund etc. So there is no case for his defence.

Finally resolved 😀
The customer recieved her cheque in the post today, I guess he’s cutting his losses and not bothering to remove the compressor 😕
