ParticipantAnybody feeling clever out there? We have a Zanussi DWS949 pulled in for repair at the moment, as we were unable to perform a repair at the customers house, and a loan machine has been provived. No pressure then.
All that’s wrong is no drain. Before we get all excited, here are the facts.
1) The horrible plastic drive shaft is still in one piece.
2) The ball is sitting on the rubber cushion.
3) It is very definitely not blocked.
4) The motor is whirring away happily BUT – no drain. The hours spent are mounting and I could have sold the AEG I lent the customer 3 times now.
I’m either missing something very obvious or ………..Any thoughts/ideas/lottery winnings/Aston Martins welcome.
Thanks guys,
Penguin.PS – is that plastic shaft a spare part by the way? It isn’t in the impellor kit and it’s not listed on the CD.

ParticipantSorry Del – no. 3 applies. Does one ask about knickers in a dishwasher?

It’s almost certainly the nasty dual direction circulation/drain pump motor. We have had quite a few of these with the same fault, replacing the motor worked everytime.
They do appear to be rotating ok, but whether they run too slowly or not I’m not sure TBH.
Part number 50273511001 which has changed at least five times, which is always a bit of a giveaway 😉

Yeah, it is definatetly the motor. I’ve had loads.
A big housing estate near my way, fit this type of dishwasher as standard (intergarated version). It’s usually one of the sets of impellors that are broken on the motor but sometimes theres nothing noticable, but I always try the motor first.

ParticipantGreetings Fellow Workers,
Have received my drive shaft 50273511001 which was a bit steep at £57 – BUT I did get a free electric motor with it!! Which means there is nothing for it – I’ll get it stuck in the dishwasher over the next couple of days and let you know how we get on. Thanks everybody so far,
Regards,

the great thing is that this is the easiest part ever to fit, 5 min job once the machine is out. I would also recomend a new filter as these have benn modded seveal times, the bad new is that the filter kit takes longer to fit than the motor.
