ParticipantHi i have a zanussi IZ16S which is showing e42 through the diagnostics. I have replaced interlock (4 times) and pcb. I have checked all the wiring from interlock which goes to the pcb, pressure swich and on/off switch. I nipped all the connections to make sure they are a tight fit. I checked for earth leaks too on heater and motor. Also i have tightened connections for display module but i still have this problem. The interlock does lock by the way but it continues clicking. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated :lesson:

Could door striker not be engaging fully with interlock? What happens when interlock operated manually?

Thanks Mike but i have tried operating it with a screwdriver but it is the same, it locks but then continues clicking and then shows e40. Does anyone know if zanussi has a technical support number?

I don’t believe they have but if you have a chat with your local friendly Service Force dealer chances are they’d help you out. I have 3 such dealers in my patch and they have been very cooperative to me over the years. 🙂
Tip: Best to ring mid afternoon with queries as often as not one of their engineers is back in the office to advise. 😉

Possible one of the pumps shorted out, usually the recirc, this can damage the triacs on the pcb. You say you have changed the pcb, check the individual triacs you may see one with a chip out of it, trace it back to the relevant pump.
You may have have damaged the new board.Hope this helps

ParticipantI recently changed an interlock when it was just clicking like this, when I investigated further turns out the carbon brushes were worn. Replaced them and it worked ok.
Check for earth leakages.March 9, 2009 at 8:41 am #279088pmb

It was the wires on the connectors to pressure switch,
It was intermittent, so several times i thought i solved it.
Thanks everyone for your input -
