Is it easy to do a belt change on a Zanussi TC481W or a pig of a job?
Just had a customer on saying that he’s been trying for days & he can’t get it on.
Straightforward job. Lid off, then remove the plastic panel and fan drive belt, then all the back panel screws bar the bottom two. Pop the ‘c’ clip off the rear bearing and pull the back panel off the spindle. Drop the belt over the drum and over the motor pulley. Refit the back panel screws and ‘c’ clip on the drum shaft. The motor tensioner is the confusing bit. Basically, twist the motor bodily to the right ie; clockwise (it’s sprung loaded).
Pass the spine of the belt round the jockey pulley and let the motor turn back under the spring pressure to tension the belt. The belt should run from the left (looking at the back of the machine) round the motor pulley and then round the jockey pulley. Lubricate the pulley and the motor mount axis bearings. Refit the small fan drive belt and the plastic cover. Be sure to fit the fan belt correctly – a diagram is moulded into the plastic panel.
Thanks, nice to go prepared, especially if someone has tried already , he’ll probably want to stand over me & watch, I hate that, but i can charge him accordingly 😆
