went to this m/c yest locks door ok but then thats it,went to inlet valve solenoid, one reading 3300 and the other 0, so changed i/valve still no joy. took pr sw hose of and blew into sw still no response, but upon sucking m/c fired up.just wondering is it the norm on these for the pr sw to take out the inlet valve. another observation was poor water pressure in house.p

Is the pump running at the begining of programme?

Zanussi machines will alwasy start the programme with a short pump out and the pressure switch will look for a change in water level. If this is ok it will then start to fill.

If this is ok then you will need to go into the diagnostic mode

um… this isnt advised… analogic pressure switches digitally measure pressure differences. this could have screwed it..

connect have zanussi diagnostics on their “mediator” references, and with zanussi/triben/elux/aeg washers its always worth using this resource first before replacing anything. otherwise you wont make any money (if your honest) or will ripp off the customer (if your dishonest and replace to test)

If that was zero ohms (although I’d think it more likely you meant infinity) a short circuit through a valve could take out something on the board.

thanks for all the advice,yes the reading was infinity on valve solenoid.the pr sw took quite a bit of blowing or sucking to do anything.it seemed very very sluggish compared to reg pr sw is this normal. will run diagnostics on tues.thanks again.p

clockwork, only other week, had one of these where solenoid had failed and also popped triacs on board, had emw fix pcb (sod to remove) but also afterwards found analogic ps had gone, because they felt it was ber at the retail spares prices i was quoting and refusing to pay me anything (“but the machine only cost £229 from comet”) i had to offer spares at cost rate and emw fix in order to get customer to complete repair so i wasnt out of pocket. so just be aware of this before going too far down the road…

thanks gandh1, its a bit of a chain reaction this one. was hoping the fact m/c responds to me manually triggering pr sw was a sign that i might be at the end of the line with this one. maybe not

ran diagnostics on m/c today( e11 diff in filling during wash phase) swopped inlet valve and pr sw. drain hose outlet a little bit high but has worked for 2 yrs.when lowered no diff. did all other checks ie motor, pump,heater(ins and res) pr sw bottle and tube and interlock. machine drains for a few sec at start then nothing.customer getting rid of m/c.to make my day have another to look at tomorrow dressed up as a tri bendix.will have to try and get connect ac to get tech info.thanks again everyone.paul

Another thing they don’t like is damp. Condensation builds up on the plastic of the brush holders for some unknown reason. Would probably show on megger or blow a sensitive trip. This normally leads to symptom you describe plus flashing st/pause light. Worth bearing in mind for the next one.
PS: When you said you checked insulation res. did you check that it was not below 40 megohms?

thanks mike,good advice. i took brushes out like new with no obvious signs of condensation though i will say m/c in shed attached to house and had to move tool box to stop drip getting to it,whether it has previously done damage and was dry when i had a look.ins readings well above 40. also when m/c put on rinse it turns drum but no water intake thanks again.paul

E11 is no fill, or fill not recognized.
When in diagnostics you can check it fills through all water valves. Does it do this?
Sometimes E11 will occur on second fill after machine empties but on filling it will syphon because drain hose is wedged down drain pipe with no air gap.
If appliance fills o.k in diagnostics but doesn’t work in customer mode, try checking heater for short to earth, disconnect heater wires & see if it will work.
