I was called to a Zannussi FLA recently, can’t remember the exact model, the heating element was down to Earth. It would not start any program, pulsing the pause button a few seconds after selection. I replaced the heater with one of a similar size and wattage, re-assembled.
Tested the machine on a spin, worked fine. Tested the machine on a wash, it filled for 20 seconds, then pulsed the pause button, much like it did when the heater was DTE. Doh! it must have blown the module I thought…
Wrong, I sent the board to EMW who promptly returned it saying no fault found.
Oops…
The heater I removed had a double terminal block on it, the new heating element i fitted only had one male pin for the bock to fit on. leaving one wire attached to nothing. That was the fault, once i joined these two wires onto one terminal block that fitted onto the new heater, the m/c worked perfectly.
The reason I’m writing this post is to warn you all of this. It is very easy to overlook this detail when you are cramped into a tiny kitchen and trying to rush to your next call without the EXACT replacement part. If you do make this mistake, it is not the easiest to find, it took me the best part of two hours, testing everything!!!
You have been warned!
