i have a 1991 zanussi aquacycle1050 washing machine that has stopped working.
The drum does not turn anymore. Its not seized.
i have checked the belt- ok. Nothing looks burnt out. Is it worth trying a set of brushes, they do look quite worn but they still seem to be still touching the commutator?
i dont think its worth getting a pro out due to the machines age so if the motor itself or the timer has gone the thing gets binned! Pity as this is its first breakdown in 17 years!
thanx
Remove the plug, then the carbon brushes. If they are down to a few millimetres, that’s you problem. One will be shiny, one will be dull. If they’ve lasted 17 years to date without replacement, that’s pretty remarkable.
Replacements can be found HERE. Match them up and take your pick.
