ParticipantI need a belt for this venerable oldie.
Details off the front are Prod 914787006 (no other numbers)
Model FJ 1033/BI have already ordered 1108786003…it’s just slightly too bit too loose. it’s a 1282 6PJE.
A quick search has thrown up1323531002 which is 1200 which is just way too small? 1282 above is just slightly bigger.
………I’ve just managed to get a number off the old belt (by shining a very bright torch behind it and it’s shown up the part number even though it’s not visible to the eye at the front).
124021010 Megadyne 1200 J6Can someone confirm that that’s the correct part number? It seems quite a bit smaller.

ParticipantHi Dave,
Having a nightmare with this job. The belt that came off was marked 124021010 Megadyne 1200 J6.
I went back armed with a 1200 belt 2nd time(not gen but pattern)…still too big. Back half off. Checked for excess play motor and drum bearing…no issues.
Measured the belt that came off. I cut the old one to get a more accurate measurment. 1175mm approximately. Even though it’s marked 1200.Am I missing something?
I’m losing the will to live with it. Not a short distance away either…Seriously lost out.

ParticipantThis is an elastic stretch belt (1200J6EL) so will be shotrer than the stamped/running length.
Stretch belt length depends on material, thickness, width etc but I would expect a new 1200mm belt to be at least a couple of inches shorter than the running length.
Have not got a 1200J EL on stock but have checked the following new stock
1196J6EL (plastic belt) – measures 1156mm
1195J5EL (rubber belt) – measures 1137mm
1230J5EL (rubber belt) – measures 1184mmMurv…

ParticipantUndestood Dave,
Some suppliers still get it wrong and list a standard polyvee as a pattern replacement for an elastic one.
Thought it would be helpful to point out just how short the correct stetch belt is likely to be.
Murv…

Moderatormeasure the new belt you have got from connect.
when a stretch belt says 1200 mm it means 1200 when stretched
as murv pointed our the unstretched belt should be about 40mm shorter
my bet ( and murv seems to have same opinion) is you have been sold the wrong part

I did give the correct part number to the shop that supplied me. I guess it looks like they’ve supplied a 1200 belt instead of a 1200 elasticated stretch belt.

Participant124021010(2) Converts to BLT3783 which should be a 1200mm elastic belt – Sadly Connects description does not confirm that it is elastic (No wonder they get confused!)
I think you may have BLT9017 which is definately a 1200mm standard polyvee belt

Thanks. I think you’re correct. I don’t use Connect. A friend has a shop and things have gone wrong here. I’m going to order the correct belt 1200 EL J6. 3rd time Lucky. Thanks for you time.
