ParticipantDoes anyone know a good supplier of the E-clips that stop the belt tension pulley wheel from falling off its shaft, as fitted to Zanussi and AEG dryers. I’m surprised that Electrolux don’t list this as a spare part.
At the moment I need one for an AEG LTH56600, but as far as I know the clips are the same as those fitted to any recent Zanussi dryer.
Diameter of pulley shaft is 8mm, with a 1mm deep groove all round. The cheap clips I found in Halfords weren’t any good as the metal was too thick to slide into the groove.

On reflection, the last two Electrolux group dryer motors I’ve looked at didn’t have clips retaining the pulley wheel, is that just a coincidence or does the belt keep the wheel in place without the need for a clip?

A belt under tension running on a curved surface will self centre the curved surface…….

So a circlip is not needed? Will the belt, itself located in the drive shaft splines, automatically centre the pulley wheel on itself?
Clever stuff, but don’t Zanussi fit clips anyway? There is a groove at the end of the shaft to take one. I can’t believe that I’ve not noticed before.

I’ve seen quite a few without circlips – same as you, thought I must have mislaid it on stripdown. But the belt does centre the pulley; you may have to move the belt across to make sure the pulley doesn’t fall off. The circlip is not listed on TDS for all the machines I looked at; it doesn’t appear to be a spare part on its own. 😕
IIRC, the old Hoover Juniors used to use a similar sized circlip for the back axle. Readily available. 😉Steve.

Thanks Chris and Steve for reassurance – fitted belt on edge of pulley wheel, started dryer with side panel off and witnessed pulley being centred – no clip needed!
