ParticipantHi All,
first post so apologies if this has been covered, I tried the search but didn’t find anything for this alarm code.We have a Zanussi DES959 which stops in it’s main wash cycle with AL7 on the display. I’ve done the usual filter and hose checks, and it goes through a rinse cycle no problem.
Does anyone know what this code means, and how we might DIY it?
Thanks for your help.

According to my records AL7 indicates that the main motor is at fault. Possible open circuit or even jammed :con:

Thanks Martin,
that has been confirmed by ‘Penguin45’ whose email I’ll quote here for anyone else with similar problems:
“The single commonest problem with these is failure to drain. The one motor
circulates in one direction and drains in the other. The plastic drive shaft
cracks and you lose drive to the impellor. After a certain amount of time,
the computer “times out”, and the fault code appears. Unfortunately
(shamefully in my opinion) the drive shaft is only supplied as part of the
main motor, which (from memory) is about £65 + VAT. You can access the motor
from the back panel, remove cover and unscrew bracket, motor should pull out
tpwards you. You can effect a temporary repair with super glue and thread,
but it doesn’t last. Also, in three years time, the new motor will do
exactly the same. Time to buy a Bosch?”Look like all those directional changes take their toll on the PLASTIC motor shaft. 🙄

Hi thanks very much for the info – several years later I’ve just used it to cure my AL7 fault! Having got the motor out, transpired that a bit of (wine) glass had got into the mechanism – found the glass – put it all back to gether again, and it works! Great, thanks – probably £100 saved!!
😀
