ParticipantI have a Zanussi washer dryer WD1250 W, type number P634 7660, Prod No 914653311/01 which is about two and a half years old. I use the auto dry function after most washes and usually it is pretty good at stopping when dry, stopping either at the end of the estimated time, or before. Recently it has started to carry on drying much longer than the estimated time. Last night I put it on synthetics auto dry at around 8 pm, at the start of drying it says 1 hour 51 minutes drying. I went out and got back around midnight and it was still going and said it had 37 minutes left to run. I powered down and when it let me open the door everything was bone dry.
It is only the auto dry timer which is overrunning, the wash cycle is running to the usual times. I haven’t tried a fixed time drying as you can only set this to one hour maximum which is nowhere near enough. I only ever have half a load in during drying and last night it was about one third load.
The only times I have had trouble with auto dry before is when the outlet leading to the condenser gets blocked with fluff, but when this happens the clothes come out damp rather than dry.
Any ideas?

The condenser unit will nevertheless need a full inspection and the thermistor at the bottom checked. 😉

Thanks Martin
When you say the thermistor needs to be checked, do you mean just clean all the fluff from it or test it eletrically? I am an electronic engineer (radio not washing machines 😉 ) so I have a multi meter, but I would imagine it would need testing at certain temperatures which would be difficult.
I will take the back off tomorrow night and clear out the condenser and the inlet with the thermistor.
