anyone got any easy way to remove the countersunk M10 bolt from the drum pulley on the later zanussi washers. applying very hot flame helps but you cant do that in customers house. 6mm allen key is not man enough for the job and hardened bits tend to snap. what do zanussi engineers use or do they tub change for bearings?

A good sharp cold chisel and a lump hammer. Make a small indentation in the face of the countersunk bolt, and start chipping away with the chisel angled so you drive it anti-clockwise. It does work.

Heat is all very well, and if you use that method a bit of oxygen from the refigeration brazing kit & it works ok, bit drastic though.

I bought a set of Automotve bits – hex and torx – a couple of years back. These fit into an adaptor for a 1/2″ drive. They come in pairs of short (about an inch) and long (about 3 inches). Fitting the long bit to the bolt and giving it a really good whack with the big club hammer frees them off every time………

Scares the hell out of the customers as well! “If you’re squeamish Mrs, don’t look……”

I use Penguins bits (sorry, you can have them back soon, promise) with an impact driver.
