ParticipantWent to this cooker for a trip fault (earth leakage) and found
front left plate (large single circuit) six/seven position switch
had two contacts slightly welded.Teased them apart and mega test was ok.Ordered new switch and fitted, five weeks later it has done it again, switch welded contacts as before.
Just wondering whats going on here and whether this is a recognised fault or factory fault.A solution would be appreciated.Found this post and wondered if it has any bearingregards steve

Please note when replacing the original switch with the new alternative switch, the connections remain in the same position with the exception of the white and black wires, which are reversed as shown in the two example illustrations below:
ORIGINAL SWITCH WIRING
REPLACEMENT SWITCH WIRING
Failure to reverse the black and white wire connections will result in the hotplate not regulating correctly.

what makes me think here is it blew an rcd the switch cant do this (unless it melts) it could blow a mcb (ie short circuit)
think the ring may have an intermittent short
only thing that can weld contacts it very high currenthope it helps
