To fill you in on the saga so far… at work I have a Zanussi DCE5655 which is in bad state.
It has had no salt in for 3+ years.
It has not had filters cleaned… ever.I have replaced the fine gause filter, with a nice new one.
I have cleaned the spray jet throughly.
I have cleaned the large filterThe problem:
The water does not seem to be heating up to a very high temperature.
It does get warm, but certainly not hot.
On a 70 degree cycle, opening the door part way through, does not release steam and water is what I would describe as tepid. As the water is being heated a bit… is the heater at fault, or is it all just too bunged up still inside to be effective at heating the water?
Are there things deeper inside that I can clean/flush through?A cycle is taking in the region of 3 hours (not clocked a cycle yet, can do so if a precise timing is required). Surely it should not take this long. My guess is that it’s due to the water not being hot enough… or is it the sign of something else at fault?
Many thanks for advice.

The heater may have failed, it’s not connected to your hot water supply instead of the cold is it by any chance ?
That may explian the tepid water anyway.

Its connected to cold supply. Is there a way to diagnose fault, such as testing electrical connectivity of the heater? Replacing the heater I think is beyond my skills, so will need to call out an engineer… but before doing that, would like to be sure it is where the fault is.
Any idea of costs involved, and how long it would take an engineer to replace.

In that case it may not be the heater, I was thinking that if the water was tepid it may well have been from your own hot water supply.
Heaters on the whole either work or they don’t so it would appear more like a control problem.
Check the repairs@ link below for an engineer in your area, costs can be discussed directly as they vary quite a bit 🙂

Thanks for that. System has found someone who covers my area, so with luck a full diagnosis will occur soon.
If it helps, another thing that does not seem to be working is the drying cycle – it should be hot air, but no sign of that. Does that help point to a heater fault, or control fault?
The water itself today has not been Tepid but rather more like cold – though is not quite as cold as if running the kitchen tap. Perhaps it’s just getting a little warm waiting in the pipe (it runs close to hot water pipes and is very close to the boiler).

Hmm, perhaps the heater has failed after all then 😕
Let us know his findings please 🙂
Dave.
