ParticipantHi
Firstly what a fantastic Forum you have here, had a problem with my AEG in Competance oven cutting out and found the answer almost immediatly. Now onto the bigger problem (its not my week)
I have a Zanussi Dishwasher DE540X that is 2 years old and it recently stopped heating the water. Everything else worked as normal but no hot water. Went and brought a new element and fitted it,the old one looked pretty good, and surprise surprise no different.
After consulting UK WG i found that there was someone who also had the same prob and thought it was a burned connection on the pcb. Checked the board with no visible signs.
Any other suggestions as i am hoping it may be a simple thermostat or something but who knows where.
😡

Hi Korky,
The stats are generally underneath although this one appears to use sensors as opposed to actual stats as such. That means it could be the sensors or the PCB quite easily.
Methinks it may be time for some pro help. 😉

Yikes, not good. I thought it would be a simple prob.
Does anyone know of any simple tests to clarify this because if it is the board i think she will go to the Spares Dept at the local Domestic waste plant

My dishwasher has just stopped heating too, same make and model as yours. Did you have any luck tracing and fixing the fault?

Lots of variables,A/Jason. Faulty heater, fill shutting off on the safety instead of the level switch, burnt out joints on the PCB are all possible problems. You need a multimeter and the knowledge to use it correctly and safely to figure this one out. If you can’t, you must get pro help. In the meantime, issue the Marigolds to the kids for the Christmas period…….
Stay safe, power off if invstigating.

Thanks for that, I was hoping it was going to be one of those “Ah that’s a 5 minute repair job and all you need is a screwdriver” jobs. Never mind, looks like the local engineers are all off over Christmas so I’m going to be ringing around to find someone who hasn’t earnt enough to clock off just yet 🙂

One for the moderators – I used the search facility on this site to find a repairer, it came up with two options, one of which was Enterprise Domestic Appliance Services which appeared very local, so I called him. Nice chap, doesn’t do Zanussi so not much point in returning him as a search result 🙁
However, the other result, RDS are coming out next week 😆I’ll report back how I get on and what the problem / solution is.

Well the repairman cometh and I think it’s dead – well, beyond hope anyway. It’s not the element, it is the electrics/PCB. His fault finding has revealed a couple of possibilities but the root cause seems to me to be that it’s a crap machine!
Whilst electrics can be replaced the cause of their demise could well be deeper in the machine. Seems the pump is pulsing and that could indicate that it’s not working as well as it should – could this lead to poor circulation around the element and in turn lead to the element drawing more current through the PCB ultimately causing premature failure.
The repairman has gone away to price the bits and will come back to me but I think a new machine is in order – he hasn’t charged me for the call out and seemed very genuine – he wasn’t trying to sell me a new machine although I know he does supply machines.
We are now looking at Servis machines that are currently being sold with a 5 year parts warranty. Any recomendations for a good quality, basic, silver/aluminium finish, free standing dishwasher with some sort of warranty that means it won’t fall over within a couple of years?December 28, 2006 at 1:27 am #197484Trilobite

If you are looking for a new machine, try Bosch or Siemens models.
They are built much better than those “tinny Italian jobs”.
A 2 year guarantee is standard on registering (send off the guarantee card!)
They are quieter in operation.
Their spares are widely available.
Technical information is available.Better machines all round: period!

ParticipantI have the same problem, initially the 65C cycle did not dry the dishes so had a look inside and checked all the connections (all ok). Put it bck together and then the 70C, 60C & 50C heated the water.
Well that lasted 2 weeks now all the programs do not heat the water.
The symptoms make me think that this may not be the heating unit.
Any ideas on the problem: PCB, Temp sensor, Element?

ParticipantI’ve given up and replaced it, the old one is sat outside waiting for me to take it down the tip!
