Our 5 year old machine has started showing the same symptoms it had 6 months ago and for which we used a local repair man.

    – does not dry the dishes, then
    – the wash cycle is cold.

I believe he did some soldering to fix it first time.

THis time I’ve noticed it runs cold on normal wash, but hot on intensive. But even on intensive it doesn’t dry.

I believe this rules out the heating element as the culprit?

I took out the control panel and looked at the pcb.

Someone had soldered a couple of bits of wire across it. One piece was loose, I resoldered it. But this hasn’t cured the problem. All the other joints look OK.

Is it possible to diagnose, from what I have described, where the fault is likely to lie?

Is there anything else I can try?

I’m on the horns of the usual dilemma – call someone out and risk a £150 bill or sent the machine to the great scrapyard in the sky and buy a new one.

Hi I presume it has worked for the last six months since the repair? In which the engineer correctly diagnosed the fault. It does look as if the fault has re- occurred, sometimes soldering joints on boards does not have a 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} success rate, it does look as if you may need a new board, better to let an engineer diagnose the true fault though as boards tend to be a bit pricey.(£100 ish) good luck
