    Hello,

I have a Zanussi DE6965 dishwasher with alarm code AL5. I have searched the archives and read that this means there is no water entering the machine and that it usually requires replacement of the IWMS.

Now a few months ago an engineer changed the IWMS because the inlet was clogged up with black matter, possibly iron particles from the water main, he said. He told me the IWMS usually needs changing every 5 years because of blockage.

Surely my IWMS cannot be blocked already? Is there anything I can do before calling him back out?

    Hello again,

I’ve had a peek at the IWMS and there is the beginnings of some sludge. Could this make it have failed already?

I understand it is dirt from the water mains and that it can also foul-up washing machines.

Can it be filtered? If so what micron size filter is required? I’m thinking new cartridges may work out cheaper than new IWMSes!
