    Hello,

I cam here recently and was told two things:
    1. The motor in my dishwasher had failed
    2. I should replace the dishwasher

This is the point where you can say “I told you so”. I’m afraid I only listened to half your advice. I decided that a new motor would cost £100 compared to £400+ for a new machine, so I bought a new motor rather than replace the machine.

There is a 2-way plug on the motor that two single red wires fit into. I forgot to note which way round these were. Does it matter?

I have fitted the motor and I can hear it spin and if I pour water into the dishwasher, it will pump it down the drain.

However, I now have a new problem: no water will spray into the dishwasher. If I run the machine with the left hand panel off, I can see water spraying into the IWMS, so I think this must be an IWMS fault.

I did post a photo of the IWMS and I was told it was looking old but when the motor failed, the dishwasher was still working, so I was hoping it might last a couple more years. I don’t understand why it has suddenly stopped now? Could it be ebcause it hasn’t been used for a week, whilst I was diagnosisng and repairing the motor fault?

I’m wondering whether a nwe IWMS would stil be cheaper than a new machine. Before I order an IWMS is there anything else I should rule out first?

I’m not quite sure how the IWMS should fill. Is there a diagram somewhere showing the path the water takes, so I can see where it is not working?

    Thanks.

Well thats £100 less towards a new dishwasher whats the point in giving you advice when your not willing to take it. An IWMS is slightly more than the motor around £120 never mind eh :boops:

When it went wrong last time, only the motor had failed. I did not ignore your advice; I was grateful for your help in identifying the motor had failed. I am out of work at the moment and so spending £100 on a motor was cheaper than £400 on a new machine. Even if I have to buy an IWMS (I think UKWG sell them for £70), that is still cheaper than buying a new machine. In an ideal world I am sure a new machine would be the best option but I am not in an ideal world at the moment, I’m in a world where every penny counts 🙁

Then a pair of marigolds and a bottle of fairy are far cheaper than £170 on a piece if junk IMHO

Well if you do get another IWMS I hope it doe’s work for you but I fear your now throwing good money after bad personally like jackal said use the sink for now and put money aside each week until you can afford to replace it and see if you can return the new motor and at least get some if not all the cost of it back . But if your determined to do it then there are two types of IWMS on that model depending on prodution so make sure you know the product code when ordering (Its on the rating plate) one IWMS is around £80 the other Around £120

What makes/models do you recommend as replacements? Will enquire about returrning motor. Had hoped that with motor and IWMS replaced, there would be nothing left to go wrong but suppose I should be thankful it has lasted 10 years, perhaps you are right about good money after bad and time to upgrade.
