    Hi new to the forum!

    Got a problem we are trying to solve with a Zanussi DES959. Tried the cleaning etc. replaced the IWMS, water inlet valve etc to no avail.
    A relay can be heard to click when the inlet valve should open but no power seems to be getting to the valve.
    Starting to run out of ideas. Any one have any clue as to why this machine still goes into AL5?

    Just as an update, power is at the water inlet valve but the valve doesn’t open, which to me indicates a break in the circuit somewhere. I’ve traced the cable someway through the dishwasher and it runs through a microswitch underneath the unit which works ok and from there I think it goes back up to the controller. The connections seem OK with no burnt or poor connections. Faulty controller perhaps??

    What does the multimeter say on the solenoid regarding resistance?. Unplug mains power before checking.

    THE VAVE HAS A MECHANICAL LOCK WHICH IS PRESSURE OPERATED THIS HAS PROBABLY LOCKED, THERE IS A VERY TECHNICAL MODIFICATION ON THE EARLIER ZANUSSI`S DONT KNOW IF IT FITS THIS MODEL FOR SURE.

    Tested the solenoid, 3.71K ohms. Seems to work when there is voltage applied and I test between one side of the soienoid and earth.
    I’ve a feeling the return path is missing somewhere, but where!?

    Could you eloborate a bit? With power to the solenoid valve I’ve blown into the tube to raise the diagphram on the valve but it still doesn’t work.

    It’s not a mechanical shut off. The small hose connected to the new inlet valve supplied in your IWMS kit is a pneumatic hose. It is the flood protection safety device – it works from a secondary air chamber in the IWMS. If the pressure switch does not shut off, water will run into the secondary chamber, which pressurises a diaphragm shut off in the valve.

    as peguin45 said it is designed as an overfill/antiflood device but they lock out under pressure hence the modification. turn off the water supply to machine, disconnect water fill hose at machine, refit hose at machine, start machine on program then turn water on only half way, this sometimes resets the valve.

    Tried the half open water valve suggestion and to no avail.
    I’m thinking it may be a missing neutral as there is 230v at the valve but no return path it seem!?
    Bit stumped now. Any one have any further suggestions 😕
