ParticipantHi,
Would be grateful of any ideas on the following before i decide to scrap it!We’ve got a Zanussi DES959 dishwasher, model No 911886007.
Apart from a noisy pump that was replaced under warranty, the only other problem we have had is the occasional dimming of the lights on the display panel. I have presumed this was just a bad connection or a dry joint somewhere on the PCBs since it disappeared if given a light (not a thump) tap on the display panel, or alternatively shutting the door again.
Unfortunately we now have a problem where the dishwasher refuses to do anything. On powering up all you get is ‘244’ in the display, and it does not do anything. It makes no difference what is pressed, or if the mains plug is pulled for a while.
I have had the unit apart and checked over the PCBs for anything obvious without success. I would be grateful if anyone could point me in any other directions.
Unless there are any leads, i think the only option will be to dump it!
That is unless there is anyone who would like to take it off my hands.
It seems a shame since it is only 4 years old, but the cost of a new display or control PCB is a little prohibtive, especially when you’re not sure if they are at fault anyway. Thanks

It certainly all points to one of the PCB’s although which one is hard to say, most likely is the main control as that has the “hard working” components.
Also check the ribbon cables and the edge connectors on each board as they are prone to poor connections.
I’m afraid I can’t throw much more light on it apart from what you’ve already discovered to be honest 🙁
It may be worth a call to a local Service Force agent http://www.serviceforce.co.uk and see if they can throw any light on this for you 🙂
Dave.

Thanks for the reply Dave.
From experience the ribbon cable was one of the things i made sure i checked, and it looks and tests ok.
Serviceforce was a waste of a phonecall to be honest – but thanks anyway for the pointer.
So it’s now down to how much i spend if any!
God knows how they can ask so much for a couple of small PCBs with a few basic components! 😯It’s a case of whether i bite the bullet and go for the expensive one first, or risk my luck with the cheaper of the two, lol.
I may just have another look at the circuit boards, and check a few components before i pull the wallet out, though.
Will let you know if my luck changes 😉
